Blessings of Volunteerism and the Forest in Cook County
Saturday I took a much needed turn in removing a small section of honeysuckle bush that invasively
thickens the forests of the Cook County Forest Preserves in Palos, my favorite place to walk and lead groups in nature. A group of 15 volunteers and stewards masked, many many feet apart on a beautiful day cleared and burned to improve the health of the forest. So satisfying. Volunteer with the Forest Preserves, often no training required! Cook County has 70,000 acres waiting for your, unique opportunities for getting outside!
